Shopping Guararapes investe em tecnologia e sustentabilidade com a Horta Inteligente Yapoatã

O Shopping Guararapes, através do Instituto Shopping Guararapes (ISG), vem se consolidando como referência em responsabilidade socioambiental com a implementação da Horta Inteligente Yapoatã. Criada em 2019, em parceria com o Instituto Agronômico de Pernambuco (IPA), a iniciativa promove o cultivo de alimentos orgânicos, aliando inclusão social ao envolver familiares dos alunos atendidos pelo Instituto em todas as etapas do projeto — do plantio à colheita.

O grande diferencial da horta é o sistema de irrigação automatizada, idealizado e desenvolvido pelos próprios alunos da turma de robótica do Instituto, em parceria com a SOFTEX PE e a startup EU.Digital. Por meio desta tecnologia, é possível por meio de sensores de umidade e um aplicativo de celular, monitorar a umidade do solo e acionar a irrigação, controlando o fornecimento de água de maneira eficiente, reduzindo desperdícios e ampliando o cuidado com as hortaliças, frutíferas e ervas medicinais cultivadas no espaço.

São cultivados alimentos como tomate, pimentão, alface crespa, couve, repolho, coentro, rúcula e berinjela, além de espécies medicinais e frutíferas como laranja, limão, acerola, pitanga e goiaba.

Tecnologia a serviço da sustentabilidade 

A ideia de automatizar o sistema de irrigação nasceu para solucionar dois desafios: o baixo índice de produtividade da horta e a dificuldade no controle manual da irrigação, o que resultava em desperdício de água e prejuízo no cultivo. Com a automação, foi possível tornar o manejo mais eficiente e estimular ainda mais o engajamento das famílias participantes.

“Hoje, o projeto alia sustentabilidade, formação tecnológica e impacto social. É a primeira horta desse tipo instalada em um shopping center e, mais do que produzir alimentos saudáveis, ela forma cidadãos conscientes, conectados com temas como segurança alimentar e preservação ambiental”, destaca Hugo Maciel, supervisor de responsabilidade social do Instituto.

Atualmente, cerca de 14 famílias participam diretamente da horta, decidindo de forma colaborativa sobre o destino da produção. Os alimentos são divididos entre os participantes e utilizados em almoços coletivos ou vendidos em feiras orgânicas.

Para Phyllype Pires, superintendente do Shopping Guararapes, a ação reforça o compromisso do mall com o desenvolvimento socioambiental da região. “A Horta Inteligente Yapoatã representa o nosso propósito de integrar inovação, educação e responsabilidade social. É uma iniciativa que fortalece a relação com a comunidade e contribui para um futuro mais sustentável, dentro e fora do shopping”, afirma.

A Horta Yapoatã é finalista do Prêmio Abrasce 2025 na categoria Inovação que corresponde à premiação mais importante do setor, concedido pela Associação Brasileira de Shopping Centers. Além de outras categorias, atualmente, o Shopping já possui 2 prêmios Newton Rique de Sustentabilidade, o que demonstra o compromisso com a sustentabilidade e com a geração de valor para o mercado.

Entre os próximos desafios do projeto estão o aprimoramento do sistema de irrigação e a implantação do plantio em cadeia, técnica que permite escalonar a colheita, otimizando o aproveitamento dos alimentos ao longo do ano.
